Horse Boarding Contract Template

The terms and conditions of your agreement outline the rights and responsibilities of both the stable owner and the horse owner. The document must meet legal and compliance guidelines to prevent future lawsuits against the stable owner. PandaDoc templates ensure you’re covered as the person providing boarding services.

What is a horse boarding contract agreement? A horse boarding contract agreement is a document you can use to rent stalls in your boarding space and help clients with the care of their horses. Because horse boarding extends beyond just renting space and often includes the animals’ day-to-day care, it is important to draw the line between the services you provide and the responsibilities of a horse’s owner. This agreement template already meets compliance and legal guidelines, so you know you’re protected from disputes in the future.

This horse boarding agreement is entered into as of [Date] by and between [Sender.Company] “Stable” and [Client.FirstName] [Client.LastName] “Client”.

In consideration of payment of monthly horse boarding fees, the Stable agrees to board the horse(s) listed in this contract on a month-to-month basis. Likewise, the Client agrees to make full payment of monthly horse boarding fees in accordance with the terms of this contract.

Horse Boarding Fees

Your fee schedule should include information about which services are billed at hourly rates, which ones incur a flat rate, and any applicable late fees. If you expect to be reimbursed for specific business expenses related to boarding a horse, like farrier services or other equine activities, include that in the payment outline.‌ ‌

The following fees shall be paid to the Stable by the Client for each horse boarded.

The tables in this section of the template allow your client to list the details of the horses they’d like to board. Required Vaccinations

Up-to-date immunizations are important to help keep other owners’ horses well. If all horses on your stable’s premises have the standard vaccinations, you can prevent the need for additional medical treatment. It is up to your discretion if you allow waivers for immunizations.

The Client must provide proof of the following vaccinations prior to boarding their horse(s) with the Stable:

These vaccinations must be kept up to date by the Client as recommended by a licensed veterinarian, and copies of all paperwork must be submitted to the Stable. Your horse may need additional vaccinations, such as those for the West Nile virus and rabies, depending on where you live and how often you travel. All horses must also have proof of a negative Coggins test. This protects all the horses at the stable from spreading disease to one another.

Liability

Boarding a horse doesn’t mean you are taking complete legal responsibility for the animal. The horse owners must understand the assumption of risk, including the risk of loss, that comes with boarding a horse. It is important to free yourself from liability of anything that may happen while a horse is in your care. Keep in mind that it is also wise to have liability insurance that covers your personal property and the owners’ horses.

While every effort will be made to provide proper care to all horses being boarded, the Stable shall not be held liable for any costs or loss associated with a horse’s sickness, theft, injury, or death. While the Stable’s facilities and employees are fully insured as required by law, this insurance policy does not cover clients’ horses. The Client agrees to bear complete and total liability for their horse’s continued health and well-being.

Additionally, the Client agrees to indemnify and hold the Stable harmless against any and all claims of loss or damage, without limitation.

Emergency Protocol

Things arise that will be out of your control. It is important for your horse boarding client to list a person they trust with the emergency care of their horse. A family veterinarian knows the specific horse’s medical history. This segment of the terms and conditions adds another layer of protection for your horse-boarding stable.

Should any horses covered under this horse boarding contract require medical care, the Stable will make a reasonable effort to contact the Client via phone. Should the Client be unreachable, the Stable reserves the right to secure veterinary care for the horse(s) covered by this horse boarding agreement.

The Stable makes all attempts to contact your preferred veterinarian as listed in the contract for the care of your horse. However, if the preferred veterinarian is unavailable, the Stable reserves the right to use another veterinarian at their discretion. All costs associated with such care will be the sole responsibility of the Client without limitation.

Other emergencies may involve the barn as a whole, such as a weather-related incident or an outbreak of infectious disease. Our stable is prepared with:
